April 1 News Letter

UPCOMING PASS SPEAKER
On Saturday, April 5th 2pm Palestine Action South Sound will address the crowd at the Capitol steps on the 50501 national day of action. The Washington chapter of 50501, known as Evergreen Resistance, has invited PASS to provide a speaker to call for a Free Palestine. The speaker will be announced later this week. PASS will also have a table at the event. Evergreen Resistance has organized three marches in Olympia all of which have attracted crowds in the thousands. Evergreen Resistance has a broad focus on protecting democracy and fighting back against Trump and Musk. The arrest of Mahmoud Khalil must not go unchallenged. Look for the FREE PALESTINE banner to join the Free Palestine Contingent, support the call to oust Donald Trump and Elon Musk from office, and call for an end to all US aid to Israel. No true democracy arrests people for standing up for a free Palestine.
FILMS
No Other Land
The documentary, No Other Land is screening at the Olympia Film Society (OFS) this week. No Other Land is a story about Masafer Yatta, a Palestinian community under siege in the occupied West Bank. After winning Best Documentary Feature at the 2025 Academy Awards, the film’s protagonist, Basel Adra, was attacked by Israeli settlers then arrested and beaten by Israeli soldiers. Basel Adra has since been released but the Palestinian struggle against Masafer Yatta’s expulsion continues. You can watch No Other Land at OFS this Thursday, April 3rd at 7PM, Friday April 4th at 4pm, or Sunday April 6th at 7pm. Get tickets here.
The Encampments
When a group of students at Columbia University in New York launched a movement protesting the war in Gaza, they sparked a nationwide uprising. Encampments sprung up at hundreds of campuses as students objected to their own university’s investment in the US and Israeli arms industries. Featuring detained student activist Mahmoud Khalil, The Encampments gives viewers an intimate look inside America’s student uprising. Professors, whistleblowers, and student activists shed light on a moment that captivated the nation’s attention and continues to be urgent. The Encampments is showing at The Grand Cinema in Tacoma from April 4 until April 10. Get tickets here.
